The Story

Teacher: Gul E Raana (Wenlin Studio)

Date: Saturday 14 February 2026 (10am-1pm)

Description:
In this class, participants will learn to mend their clothes with Kantha, a mending method from Sindh, Pakistan. Gul will introduce participants to different types of mending and their ideal use. Additionally, Gul will demonstrate the method during the class using a sampler or clothing. By the end of the class, participants will have the knowledge to mend their clothes and apply the learning to mend the clothing of their choice.

This workshop is taught in English by Gul E Raana, originally from Punjab, Pakistan, and the founder of Wenlin Studio — a brand dedicated to exploring sustainability in textiles with embroideries and natural dyeing.

Kit Material that participants can take home:
- Mending thread
- Needles
- Fabric Sampler & Swatches

Things for sharing during the class:
- Frames
- Thimbles

Materials: All the materials for this workshop will be provided. If you use a specific tool, please bring your frames or thimbles. Participants can also bring their damaged clothing to repair during class.

Requirements: participants must be over 14 years old. Some knowledge of needlework will benefit the participant. This workshop is taught in English.

Withdrawals/refunds: the registration fee will be refunded to students who for some reason cannot participate in the workshop and communicate their withdrawal up to ten days before the workshop date.

Location: Rua Maria Andrade, 50A (Lisbon)

Please note: The workshop will only take place if a minimum of three people sign up to participate. In the event that we don’t reach minimum attendance of three participants until five days before the date of the workshop, the workshop will be cancelled and any participants who had signed up will be contacted for a refund, rescheduling (if possible) or shop voucher to be arranged. In the event that the workshop is cancelled by the tutor due to unforeseen circumstances, we will apply the same procedure: refund of the fee, exchange for a shop voucher or, should another workshop date already be booked, a rescheduling of the workshop.
